BJP February 2009

February is done. Here are my thoughts about it. Since the Chinese New Year has started in February I put down a dragon and the Chinese character for Ox (the year of the Ox has started). For me thinking about China is connected with the Tibethan culture and their struggle for freedom. March 10 is my birthday and also the day the Tibet was invaded by the Chinese. So I put down the Tibethan year that started in February too: 2136. In dots.

It defines a new start, spring is on its way, I start to awaken again.

I like the all white part. Since there are no colors to distract your attention goes to the form. All these tiny little parts that lay together and form something bigger is one of the reasons why I am so attracted to beads. I like the black and white with one more color. Because that works with almost all colors.

So, I would like to know what you think about it!

Well, Soe, here is what I think about it: It's MARVELLOUS! Great artwork with a clear statement.

I went through a blog-lazy period recently, and therefore didn't visit your blog just lately. How could I ignore that it is such a treat to visit here?

What intrigued me about your February piece on first sight was the red dragon, because I adore dragons. Your background story, however, made me review and partly alter my attitude towards dragons.

Thank you,
Sabine

Nice blog. Keep up the good work. Hey, by the way, do you mind taking a look at our new website www.indianewsupdates.com. It has various interesting sections. Who knows, it might just have the right kind of stuff that you are looking for.

Also, if you like this website, can you please recommend it to your friends. We are a small media organization so we do not have resources to promote our website through costly advertisements. Your little help would help us in a big way.

Thank you,

Your work is always such a treat, Soe! You have the most special way of not only seeing things but translating them into exquisite beadowork.

I always look at the click-to-enlarge version of a piece before I read anything about it, challenging myself to determine the message. I confess that Tibet did not come to mind, but the Chinese new year and ox did. Also I wondered if the groups of red dots signified numbers. The message puzzled and alluded me, although the clues were quite strong. Thanks for writing about it and for your clear thinking! Yes... we seek to awaken again. Robin A.

I loved the symbolism and colors in this piece. Congratulations on creating a very meaningful and beautiful journal piece.

It is a stunning piece that made me think of blood and struggle.
